I’m probably the textbook definition of an introvert.
- I’d rather stay home most nights than go out to one social event after another.
- I enjoy quiet, solitary activities like reading, writing, gaming, gardening, or drawing.
- I’ll always choose the company of a few close friends over a wild party.
- I do my best work alone.
- I will avoid small talk or other unnecessary social interactions – at all costs.
If you know me – that is me.
While I enjoy this I also realize new people, new friends mean new ideas and new challenges – something we all need to prosper and grow.
To facilitate this personal growth that I’ve decided to join an Outdoor Adventure group based in Kingston – the Kingston Outdoor Adventure Group or KOAC. It, I hope with the joining of things I enjoy doing, photography and the outdoors with things I find challenging on a personal level – meeting and interacting with new people will result in positive personal development and a little fun.
Up first – the introverts nightmare – a weekend in a hostel with a large group of people I do not know at all…
Think of it as a “sink or swim” or the social equivalent of a bungee jump. Exhilarating, exhausting and hopefully enlightening all at the same time.
We’ll see.
